“I first thought of it as a sketch. Of creating a modulation or movement through space. It was originally painted as white marks on black with the colours produced by washing with very thin paint. I think I achieved a sucessful way to introduce vibrant colour into work that had previously been done as a black and white painting”.  Jez Prior
